CHAPTER 16

(Don’t Make Me Look Stupid)

Captain Spiller sat in a meeting with a sour look on his face. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, he sat in the meeting with a neutral look on his face, but on the inside, he was furious.

“Captain Spiller are you okay?” Mary Wiggins asked as she stood up before the entire room.

“Yes I’m fine I’m just having a hard believing what I’m hearing,” Captain Spiller admitted.

“Well I’m sure this is a hard pill for all of us to swallow,” Mary said with a phony smile. “But I was there and saw with my own eyes.”

“And what exactly did you see again?”

“Like I said before I spoke to agent Ashley over the phone,” Mary began for the fifth time. “She told me she had agent, Matt Hardy in her possession. I told her I would be there shortly with a team to apprehend him when my team and me got there we found, Matt Hardy, Ashley, and her entire team trying to make an escape. My team identified themselves then we were fired upon,” Mary paused to take a sip of water. “We were able to take down agent, Matt Hardy but, Ashley and the rest of her team managed to escape not before killing over thirty of my best men.”

“I have a hard time believing that,” Captain Spiller told her. “My team took this mission as a favor to help you out,” he pointed out.

“Captain Spiller, when you met, Angela, the so called Teflon Queen,” Mary said making air quotes with her fingers. “Wasn’t she serving a life sentence for murdering over sixty people, law enforcement included?”

“That’s correct,” Captain Spiller answered, knowing exactly where, Mary was going with this.

“Then why is what I’m telling you so hard to believe?” she asked. “Your team is armed and dangerous and I’m issuing a T.O.S (Terminate on Site) to be put out immediately!”

Captain Spiller nodded his head. “Are we about done here?” he asked as he felt his back up burner phone that only a few people had the number to vibrating in his pocket.

“Yes we are,” Mary replied with a smirk.

“Bitch,” Captain Spiller mumbled under his breath as he exited the meeting and answered his phone. “Yeah”

“Hey captain, it’s me, Ashley,”

“This better be damn good!” Captain Spiller growled into the phone. “What the hell is going on?”

“Mary is working with, the Lion and tried to set us all up to be killed but we managed to escape,” Ashley explained.

“I figured that,” Captain Spiller peeked over his shoulder to make sure no one was within ear distance of him. “Mary just issued a T.O.S out on you three so be careful and try to fly under the radar.”

“I need to know everything you have on, the Lion so we can take him down before he hurts anymore innocent people,” Ashley pressed.

“I don’t know much, but what I do know is that he and a few of his soldiers just landed in New York this morning, and then just suddenly disappeared out the clear blue sky,” Captain Spiller explained.
